more snow

We're getting a snow storm!  It's beautiful out right now - the snow is still white and hasn't turned to sleet.  

ugh

I finished the Little Daisy Swing Coat over the weekend and it's blech, ugh, yucky, a disaster, I could go on FOREVER about it! 

I've determined that I'm terrible with patterns that provide measurements for the various pieces to the garment.  I never seem to be able to get them all to be the 'exact' measurement and then the seaming is a whole other story.  What I did realize about this little coat is that you can just make EZ's February Sweater, skip the lace pattern and viola!  You have yourself a little swing coat and the only seams are under the sleeves.  Live and learn.  Or something like that.

A little treasure unearthed in my grandmother's basement over the summer when we were cleaning out her house...



I took both little ladies to the Pediatrician today for their checkups.  It's a whole other world taking Chloe now that she can speak in full sentences.  Wish I had a tape recorder so I could play it back to her some day.

Oh, and remember the steam mop I was obsessed with that Carrie introduced me to?  Well, mine finally came last week on the day our sump pump backed up in the kitchen.  It smelled horrendous!  Luckily the plumber got here in a hurry.  We thought maybe the injector was faulty or something.  Nope.

Turns out Chloe had been flushing wipes down the toilet, which the plumber triumphantly pulled out and showed to us.  Yuck.  Needless to say, the steam mop was a life saver for the cleanup of that mess.

I cast on for a Tomten Jacket over the weekend.  My plan is to hopefully make a second one in time for Christmas for the baby brother, so they'll have matching jackets. This one is the bigger toddler/child size.

We had a weekend full of birthday parties, baby showers, decorating the house for the holidays and just little Christmas shopping.  It went by too quickly!



I submitted this little sweater to The Stockinette as part of JC Fridays in Jersey City and they picked it as one of the pieces to display in their window!  This came as a pleasant surprise, I had no idea if they would pick it. 

I guess my few years at home with babies have paid off as my knitting skills have improved tremendously!

city trip

I seriously thought I would bail on my trip to the city yesterday, but I did not flake.  The goods that I picked up at B&J Fabrics:

A few yards of corduroy that I couldn't resist.  I need to pull out my Japanese pattern books and figure out what to make, but I'm thinking either pants or a jumper.  They had lots of cute corduroy and a huge selection of Liberty of London.

And then the felt I bought for the stockings.  I was tempted to just buy the acrylic felt, but the price difference wasn't too outrageous and at the end of the day the wool felt is just so much nicer.

I still need some additional colors and I was thinking of buying one of these bundles from Purl. Just need to figure out which colors.

Lastly, the piano was a birthday gift.  Both Chloe and Sadie like to look out the front window and watch the cars and people walk by.  I suppose she's playing for them!
