Pattern:  My own, cast on 40 stitches, knit purl, purl one

Yarn: 1 skein, manos del uruguay

Needles:  size 8 circular

Size:  16 inches long, fits a 5 year old, but not for long

Notes:  Love the yarn and all of the gorgeous colors it comes in

I just loved this over on Odeedoh - Beyond Snowmen:  Snow Day Fun.  My particular favorite was the Beehive.  Way cooler than our igloo.  Now we just need some more snow, so we can make one of these!  The site has some other great ideas for snow days.  Another favorite was the Make A Snowman Kit.

One size 5 legwarmer down and one to go.  The yarn is Manos del Uruguay, but I can't seem to locate the tag anywhere for more specifics, but it's gorgeous!  Loving working with it.  A recent acquisition on a trip to Purl.

 

felting project

I'm slowly getting closer to finishing this project.  Aside from the template for the shapes, you really need a very sharp pair of scissors to cut through the felted wool. I assumed this would be the easy step, but it proved to be a bit more difficult.  Next step will be figuring out how to hang them.

 

turn a square

Pattern:  Turn a Square, Jared Flood (free on Ravelry)

Yarn:  Rowan Cashsoft Aran (blue), Plymouth Suri Merino (red)

Needles:  size 5 circular, size 7 circular

Size: Not quite sure on the sizing of this one.  The pattern is only one size, and it's a bit big on me, so I would say it's a men's medium.

Notes:  I made this from stash yarn, but I think it would come out really nicely with the recommended yarn.  It was an easy/quick knit.

february list

Here's my list for February.  Well, to back-up a bit, I decided at the beginning of the new year to throwout any broad, sweeping resolutions for the year and concentrate on more of a month-to-month approach.  I'm thinking I'll achieve more throughout the year.  So far, so good, with one minor exception.

• organize digital photos from 2006/2007, delete any excess or poorly exposed pictures
• clean out kitchen cupboards and drawers
• clean and organize laundry room (leftovers from my January list!)
• contine with exercise routine
• continue planning dinners and start to plan lunches
• plan a warm weather vacation (Mexico?!)
• compile my 'buck list' for 2011

 And for January, I did manage to make it through my list, except for one item.  I keep avoiding it, so I moved it  to my February List.  Really I should tackle it first thing February, but it hasn't happened yet.

• organize digital photos - have completed an overhaul of pictures from 2004 and 2005
• clean out under kitchen sink
• clean out the fridge
• clean and organize laundry room - onto the February List
• plan out weekly dinners - with the help of my trusty notebook. 
• exercise - again, with help of my notebook.

Not too bad, but certainly doesn't guarantee us the coveted spot at our Charter School of choice - LCCS.  From what I've heard, and I'm sure this is more rumor than anything else, if you're in the top 20 on the waitlist you stand a solid chance of making it into the school.  Anything above 20 and you're outta luck.

So, it looks like Chloe will start her elementary years at Hamilton Park Montessori.  Despite the obvious cost of a private education, I'm really happy and love the school.  Plus Phoebe will start there in the fall - all around it will be much easier having them both at the same location. 

Over the weekend we attempted to make an igloo using our table (which should be coverage and in storage!) as the structure.  Worked pretty well, although I think they had more fun building than actually playing in it.

I'm amazed that my parsley is still somehow green under all the snow.  Although, I haven't cut any of it and tried to use it - I suppose that would be the true test.
